Who's Online
Owner Scott Bailey of The Cigar Merchant is challenged with balancing the needs of the fan, the fad, the aficionado and the regulars (Hoodies). Located in Roswell, a few miles north of downtown Atlanta, he has created a destination for cigar lovers. Cigars are trendy, thanks to Cigar Aficionado magazine, and the growing influence of the Hip Hop community. The newly indoctrinated, the curious, Scott has to be ready for whatever ventures through his doors. It does not matter if you are looking for a Zino Platinum, Perdomo- Fresco, or a Fuente -Chateau 858, but no Blunts.
This is no ordinarily cigar shop, there is a room located in the back, in plain view and all are welcome, where the Hoodies gather. Hoodies are the collective group of individuals that call The Cigar Merchant a destination, to sit, to smoke and to socialize. There is a large screen TV, couches, card tables, computers, etc., those inviting sit a spell and join in the conversation comforts, locker-room style.
In talking to Chris Harper a Perdomo Cigars representative atmosphere that few other stores can match, a special camaraderie of cigar lovers, similar sentiments were echoed Louis Marshall a Fuentes & Newman representative (http://www.cigarfamily.com/). Cigars have always been about luxury, style and celebration; the gathering at The Cigar Merchant is a daily affirmation that cigars will always be popular in some hoods. Scott Bailey will tell you that it is the vast inventory, variety, accessories and willingness to help each customer develop affection for a good cigar that makes his store unique. Others will tell a different story; good cigars, good people, good hood!
