Natasha - S. Pierre Price PhotographyBefore you can achieve intimacy, you must know and understand what it is.  Intimacy is sharing.  It's about sharing; about being emotionally close to your partner.  That closeness you feel only with your man/woman.  Intimacy: a bond and trust that can't be broken or infiltrated. It's about being able to let your guard down, because your partner knows what makes you tick.  So that the real and true you can come to the forefront.  Intimacy is also being able to accept and share in your partner's thoughts and feelings.  We all have an "inner world" of feelings and experiences, the world of our day dreams, hopes, fears, hurts and memories, the world of our "inner-most" thoughts.  To be able to share our "inner-world" with a partner we love, and to be able to share our partner's experiences, is one of the most rewarding aspects of a relationship.

Intimacy is a journey of discovery in a relationship. Many couples start out their relationship sensing they have achieved a new dimension of intimacy which they have not experienced before.  They are in love, it’s exciting, and they can’t imagine a greater degree of intimacy.  Intimacy is the tie that binds and sustains loving relationships.

Let's compare intimacy to the frosting on your favorite cake. Cake is sweet bread, it comes in lots of varieties, we all have our favorite for whatever reason.Mary In a Red Dress

I was baking a birthday cake for my daughter earlier last week and she wanted to help me. She gathered all the ingredients needed to prepare the cake and she realized we were out of sugar. She saw the amount of sugar needed on the recipe and said to me, "Mom the recipe only calls for 1/2 cup of sugar"; she couldn't understand why it would make a difference if the sugar was left out. I explained to her that without that small amount of sugar it wouldn't be cake.
