Star Maxx Media has embarked on producing an episodic drama based and filmed in Atlanta, Ga. NottHeads talks to Star Maxx Media CEO and Sr. Producer Carl Millender. You don't have to go to Hollywood to be on television or to shine more light on your rising star, get connected to Star Maxx Media. You don't have to go to the west coast, but you have to get to Atlanta to take part in this project.

"Atlanta Homicide" is a television episodic drama about the Atlanta Police Department- Homicide Division. The series centers around the lives of six officers as they investigate local murders and related crimes. The series is a blend of CSI, NYPD Blue and Unsolved Mysteries from the streets of Atlanta.

It's happening right now, on the streets of Atlanta, the filming and development of a new television series. The approach is different, so the finished product will look different, but the outcome of all this activity will be as expected, SUPER. NottHeads would like to thank CEO and Co-Producer Carl Millender for taking the time to give us all some insight as to what's going on in Hollywood's new Southeastern locale - "The ATL".

NottHeads: Give us an overview of the project.

CM: First let me say welcome to the NottHeads audience and stay tuned! I just want to let you know that we have a terrific show. Star Maxx Media will be launching 13 episodes for the first season in the next few months. We are half way there in regards to episodes already completed; Atlanta Homicide has a great cast, crew and writers. Atlanta Homicide is the brainchild of Hattie Lemon and myself. You can expect to see this very soon, as early as Spring of 2008 in test markets around the Atlanta area. Then see the series on television in the Fall of 2008, syndicated across the world on various different channels. Keep your eyes on the lookout for this series, Atlanta Homicide.

NottHeads: What is Star Maxx Media trying to accomplish?

CM: We at Star Maxx Media are the next major production company in the Atlanta, Georgia area. Star Maxx Media would like to stand along side fellow colleagues like Tyler Perry, Rain Forest (Will and Rob), and so many of the other companies that have created great things in the Atlanta area. We want to be there and will be there very soon, watch out for Star Maxx Media.

Atlanta Homicide is a television series much like CSI or NYPD Blue; Star Maxx Media is the first production company of this kind in the city of Atlanta. I would like to send a shout out to anyone and everyone to come out and take part in this première opportunity in the city of Atlanta whether you are cast or crew, writers or just people who want to contribute in any way, shape or form. We know that the Atlanta area is fertile ground for finding talented individuals with all the skills required for an ongoing series and production. Star Maxx wants to find and utilize that talent in all facets of the production process. You can take this as a shout out, a loud shout out, to anyone who is interested in any of our projects: writers, actors, actresses, musicians, production technicians, or in the more southern vernacular; "All Y'all".

NottHeads: Why should Hollywood be interested in an independent production company? Atlanta Homicide

CM: We believe that Hollywood's interest in independence is crucial in the ever changing entertainment world. Entertainment is simply a mirror of society. Independent film companies provide that edginess that Hollywood has not been able to accomplish without the little man. This is a different kind of television, based upon a geographic location that Hollywood doesn't often portray. Atlanta Homicide has a different vibe and pulse from what you currently see; not necessarily new, but definitely different.

NottHeads: Why Atlanta?

CM: Why not? Atlanta is a market that has become known for its music entertainment. We believe that it is high time for everyone to know that Atlanta has a lot more to offer than music. We are an innovative company; working with the people and the city of Atlanta to bring Film and TV to the masses. We want to show the world what Atlanta has to offer and why they may want to work here in this industry.

NottHeads: How do you find talent and scripts?

CM: The better question is how does the talent find us? They do this by word of mouth, our website, our filming and our overall exposure. The writers follow the majority and it is raining scripts in Atlanta. If you have stories of homicides, of loved ones that were killed and if you want Star Maxx Media to write around that story to help bring that story to life - come out, give us your information in any way shape or form, we will exercise diligence in working to get a script out for you, thank you. Star Maxx Media is also working to develop closer relationships with local law enforcement agencies to gain access to real case files for episode development.
